Our Story

Shiloh Community Church

How it all started ...

Shiloh Community Church was born in 1982 when the founding pastor, Tom Garasha, moved to Phoenix, Arizona with the vision to plant a church near Paradise Valley. What began as a small Bible study grew into a church that met in various schools and locations, until finding our home at our present location in 1992. The name Shiloh came out of a desire to see more than just a building where people gathered to worship, but rather a place of rest, peace and reconnection with God and each other. Over the years, God has blessed that desire and many have found peace, refuge and restoration within this community that we call Shiloh.

It has been our desire to connect with the community in a way that demonstrates our love for Jesus Christ through our love for others and to see the church expand into other areas of North Phoenix. We have hosted hundreds and hundreds of events within our community that give us the opportunity to reach out with the love of Christ. We have planted three churches in North Phoenix, and started an Hispanic Church that currently meets on our campus. In 2004, in an effort to continue to reach out, we built a Community Center and gymnasium on our campus that provides both activities and a meeting place for the community.

When Pastor Tom stepped into a new position with the EFCA in 2006, ministering to pastors in the southwest region, Eric Dalrymple became the Lead Pastor and Jason West became the Teaching and Missions Pastor of Shiloh. In 2011, Pastor Jason was voted in as the new Lead Pastor, continuing to preach and lead our staff and church towards a unified vision and purpose for the future - to make disciples who love God, love His church, and show His love to the world.

Our Purpose

We exist to make disciples who love God, love His church & show His love to the world.

Community is formed as people become united in love for one another and in a shared purpose. We want everyone to experience community at Shiloh so we have built both of these elements into the fabric of who we are through our purpose statement. As you begin to engage in the purposes of Shiloh, we are confident that you will experience community; a place where you can belong, a place where your unique giftedness will contribute to what God is doing through His church.

Where we are headed ...

God has continued to bless our church with deep relationships within the congregation and opportunities to serve within His kingdom. It is from this place of blessing and provision that we have begun the process of working to enhance and expand in three strategic areas that align with our purpose statement.

1. Love God - We believe that every believer in Christ is a disciple and needs to be discipled. Therefore we are working to develop and institute an intentional culture of discipleship at the church by defining and expanding multiple ministries at the church.

2. Love His Church - No matter what stage of life a person is in, Shiloh is a community that will walk life alongside that person. We are therefore working to formally define and build a Christ-centered care ministry in which we are able to effectively identify and meet needs as well as connect people in deeper relationships with God and other believers.

3. Show His Love to the World - God has designed each community church to serve as a singular body to share His gospel within the context of their local community and across the entire earth. We are excited to further develop and expand our domestic and international missions ministry as well as define and develop a Christ-centered community outreach plan.

A worthwhile vision is never accomplished in one day or even in the course of one year. It is developed, refined, and accomplished as we seek God and commit to the work He lays before us. We are committed to God’s vision for His church.
